CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Vaulters in all of our classes have the opportunity to be a part of local demonstrations, competitions, and our annual team performances.

Mighty-Mites - Vaulters ages 4-6 years old. This is an introduction to horses and vaulting for young children. Through playing games and other activities, vaulters learn balance and confidence both on the barrel and on the horse. A great way to begin riding.

Beginning Vaulting - Entry level class for students ages 7-15. No experience is necessary. In this class, the vaulter learns about horse and vaulter safety, balance, coordination, and confidence through the basic vaulting skills. A great way to begin riding.

Trot - Available for students 7-15, however, this is not an entry level class. Vaulters must already have experience, including a full understanding of both horse and vaulter safety, body awareness, and the ability to properly execute all compulsory moves at the walk. Here the vaulters perform at the trot and continue to build strength, flexibility, and balance.

Jr. Canter - 17 and under. Students already have balance, coordination, basic skills and are ready to execute them at canter. This class will focus on developing flexibility and strength needed for this level of vaulting. Students will learn compulsories and freestyle at the canter. Students 16 and older should begin in this class.

Sr. Canter - 18 and up. Similar to the Jr. Canter class. Students 18 and older will begin in this class because of their ability to progress quickly. The focus will be flexibility and strength as well as mastering the compulsories and freestyle.

Advanced Canter - A suplimentary class structured for our most experienced and advanced vaulters. Select individuals from our Jr. and Sr. Canter classes will be invited to attend a 2nd day a week for rigorous training in order to prepare for regional and national competitions. Students must display a willingness to work hard and a commitment to the sport.

Gymnastics for Vaulting - Offered to club members at the canter level at All American Gymnastics Center in Lindon. This class focuses on gymnastic skills that will improve one's vaulting.  Taught by a full-time gymnastics coach and vaulter.
