CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Vaulters in all of our classes have the opportunity to be a part of local demonstrations, competitions, and our annual team performances.
Tiny Tots - Vaulters ages 5-7 years old. This is an introduction to horses and vaulting for young children. Through playing games and other activities, vaulters learn balance and confidence both on the barrel and on the horse. A great way to begin riding.
Walk / Trot - Entry level class for students ages 7-15. No experience is necessary. In this class, the vaulter learns about horse and vaulter safety, balance, coordination, and confidence through the basic vaulting skills. A great way to begin riding.
Trot Team - Students ages 7-15 may try-out to participate on Technique's competitive or demonstration team, this is not an entry level class. Vaulters must already have experience, including a full understanding of both horse and vaulter safety, body awareness, and the ability to properly execute all compulsory moves at the walk. Here the vaulters perform at the trot and continue to build strength, flexibility, and balance.
Canter Class - Students already have balance, coordination, basic skills and are ready to execute them at canter. This class will focus on developing flexibility and strength needed for this level of vaulting. Students will learn compulsories and freestyle at the canter. Students 16 and older should begin in this class. . Select individuals in this class will be invited to attend a 2nd day a week for rigorous training in order to prepare for regional and national competitions.
